Artist Statement
My father was a lifetime Buddhist painter and was unfortunately being converted into a Christian at the very last end of his life.
Buddhist believed, mourners have to cross the bridge and walk around in circles during funeral, it signifies the way for the dead to reach Heaven.
In western, a ladder, signifies stairway to heaven as well.
An incomplete Bridge and a broken ladder, both therefore signify a broken connection and direction in any religion.
In other words, the dead is unable to reach his Final Ideal Destination; Heaven.
